Question by holla–bolla: How do I get the cigarette smoke out of the clothes in my closet?
Well, both of my parents are smokers, and i guess i’m sick and tired of men and women telling me I smell of smoke, not to mention I hate knowing I smell like smoke all the time. So, I’m attempting to make some adjustments. So far i’m thinking of putting all my clothes, jeans and all in my closet, and spraying them all down with febreeze, and putting bbq charcoal in my closet (cause i heard it functions to get rid of the odor) and putting a door on my closet and hopefully that will work. Any other ideas or remedies that you know of could truly aid me out. Thank you.

Close your bed room door. open a window and air your space out put a box of baking soda in your closet, like you’d put in the fridge.

Question by DonnaN: How do I install a clothes rod in a closet that has a slanted ceiling on one end?
I have 2 bedroom closets that each have a slanted ceiling on one end. As you look into the the clostet, the slant is on the left.
I want to install a clothes rod in each, but on the left/slanted side, there isn’t anything to screw the rod holder end into.
What can be done on the left/slanted side of the closet, so I can screw the rod holder in?

Use some eye bolts in the ceiling part and attach chain/wire/nylon rope/whatever…thru the bolts and attach to your rod. That way you can adjust each side to the length you need to maintain level hanging.

Question by jessicakat: My closet has a musty smell and I cannot get rid of it?
I recently bought a very old house. The walls in my closet are plaster. We will re-do the closet soon, but in the meantime, there is a very musty old smell in there. I have tried fabric softener sheets, and potpurri bags. Nothing seems to get rid of the smell and even my clothes smell like a damp basement! How do I get rid of the smell? Should I use cedar? Does that make your clothes smell bad? What do you suggest?

Best answer:

Answer by Get it. Got it? Good. ®
It could be mold, you shouldn’t be putting your clothes in there. You could get a respiratory infection.

Question by ltkenbo: What are some good ways to keep closet clothes from getting musty?
I’m going home from my school/dorm for a month for Christmas break and I don’t want all the clothes in my closet to get musty (closet is small and the door will be closed). What is a good way to keep them musty free?

A cheap way is to cut an apple in quarters and put it on a parer plate if it is carpeted.
Put them around on the floor and the shelf.
Or just open a box of baking soda and spread it on a paper plate for more surface area. Just like a fridge.
They always have that scented stuff to put in there but they just try to cover the odor.

Question by DMCz: How do I keep clothes in my closet smelling fresh?
I wash my clothes well, and once they are done drying, they smell nice, and I hang them up in my closet. Well, after a week or so, they aren’t smelling as fresh, and smell kinda dirty, so I don’t wear those clothes and re-wash them.

Why do my clothes smell dirty even though I haven’t worn them or anything? I don’t put any dirty clothes in my closet. I wear them once and put them in my dirty clothes hamper. The only other thing I put in my closet are dry items that shouldn’t be affecting the smell of my clothes, such as CDs, Magazines, and books.

How can I keep my clothes smelling fresh for a long time? Should I spray my cologne on them? I tried using moth balls, but I don’t like the smell of moth balls. Do you guys have any tried and true methods?

How do you keep your clothes closet organized?

Question by zombie_princess_212006: How do you keep your clothes closet organized?
I don’t have any money to spend on fancy organizers. My closet has one shelf with a wooden rod. I do have shoe cubbys that go along the bottom of the floor that hold all of my shoes. I have a set of bi-fold closet doors. The closet is 88 inches long and 15 inches deep. I have lots of clothes!

What are your suggestions for organizing all of your wardrobe into an easy to see and maintain closet?

here is a possible solution to your problem, you should sort things out and then separate them summer from fall and winter and possibly store some in another area, when they are out of season.

My problem is similar but opposite, I don’t have enough closets to hold my clothes. My solutions is to use plastic clothing bags to hold out of season clothes under my bed. I also use hangers that hold more than one item top to bottom. I have a skirt hanger that holds 6 skirts and takes no more room than one skirt would. Hang only necessary items. Never hang sweaters, or play wear.

closet organization question?

My room has just enough (and by ‘just enough’, I mean it barely fits in there) room to put all my clothes. I often find things that I have never worn before in the back of my closet. I repeatedly say that I have ‘nothing to wear’ although I have all this new stuff that I haven’t worn before!

Do you have some space-saving ideas or tips for how to organize my closet?

I also need some way to keep track of my clothes – is there a website or a program that will let you post pictures of your clothes inventory so I can keep track of what I have?

Thanks so much!

Ok, so inside my drawers I have some inserts to divide the space into 3 …this helps keep things in order. Is there anything I can do to do the same for my closet? I want to keep my sons clothes catagorized by Play Clothes, Church Clothes, etc … does anyone have any ideas on how I can seperate the catagories with something visual?

You can try different colored hangers. That’s what I do with my clothes.
